GUPS Curriculum

At Glan Usk Primary School, we have been on a remarkable journey designing a curriculum that is purposeful, engaging, and reflective of our school community. We have been fortunate to work closely with our cluster schools to develop a shared curriculum vision, particularly in Humanities, Science and Technology, and Expressive Arts. By drawing on the discipline expertise across all three settings, we have designed a curriculum that is rooted in our locality, our learners’ needs, and the wider world.

Our approach has been inspired by leading educational research, including the work of Lucy Crehan and other educational researchers, as well as guidance from the EAS (Education Achievement Service). This research has supported the development of our Cluster Curriculum Conceptual Framework (3-16), ensuring coherence, progression, and high aspirations for all learners. Through co-construction, we have shaped a curriculum that offers children a balance of breadth and depth, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and experiences they need on their learning journey.

At Glan Usk, we are committed to continuous reflection and refinement of our curriculum, ensuring it remains ambitious, inclusive, and responsive to our learners. By working collaboratively, we empower our children to develop curiosity, creativity, diversity and a deep understanding of the world around them, preparing them for a future full of opportunity.
