At Glan Usk Primary School, we believe that time after school is important for children to relax, spend quality time with family and friends, and take part in extracurricular activities. We value the balance between learning and wellbeing, recognising that downtime plays a crucial role in children’s development. While we do not set regular homework, we prioritise daily reading, practising spellings, and developing key mathematical skills, such as number recognition, times tables, and accessing MyMaths. These activities help to build confidence and fluency in essential skills. In addition, from time to time, class teachers may provide a home learning challenge linked to a class theme or a special event. These activities are designed to be enjoyable, engaging, and an opportunity for families to share in their child’s learning. We understand that home learning may not always be possible, but we encourage families to take part when they can. If any extra support or resources are needed, please don’t hesitate to contact the school—we are always happy to help!
